Scott Formby's talents in interior design became recognized through a career that began with a part-time position in the home design division of Ralph Lauren while studying at Parson's School of Design. Although his career took an early detour into fashion design—as Creative Director and Designer at some of the most iconic brands in American fashion (including Ralph Lauren, J. CREW, and Geoffrey Beene)—he eventually returned to interior/home design as the Global Creative Director of Frette.

It was at the iconic home-textile manufacturer that Scott was able to design and consult on residences world-wide, design for Frette in Milan and New York City, and participate in two seminal designer show houses in New York City. His work at Frette also included designing in the hospitality sector—working closely with world-class hotels developing textiles and products for each property. Clients included Ritz-Carlton, Rosewood Hotels and Resorts, Soho House, Surf Lodge and Kimpton Hotels.
